Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Locum Substance Misuse Nurse to join our dedicated team in Glasgow. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a Registered Nurse (RGN or RMN) with a background in substance misuse to contribute to a multidisciplinary team focused on delivering high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Comprehensive Assessments: Conduct thorough assessments of individuals experiencing substance misuse issues to inform personalized care plans.
- Care Planning: Develop and implement individualized recovery plans in collaboration with service users and other healthcare professionals.
- Clinical Interventions: Administer prescribed medications, including opioid substitution therapy, and monitor therapeutic responses and potential side effects.
- Health Education: Provide harm reduction advice, health education, and support to service users and their families.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with a range of professionals, including doctors, psychologists, and social workers, to ensure holistic care.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in line with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
- Safeguarding: Identify and act upon any safeguarding concerns in accordance with local and national guidelines.
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse (RGN or RMN): Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
- Experience: Previous experience in substance misuse services is essential.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of harm reduction strategies, recovery models, and relevant legislation.
- Skills: Excellent communication, assessment, and organizational skills.
- Flexibility: Ability to work full-time hours with flexibility to meet service needs.
- Compliance: Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
