About Us:

Opal Personnel is currently working with a well-established veterinary clinic in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom, who are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join their team on a permanent basis. The practice prides itself on delivering high-quality veterinary services with a compassionate approach. They offer a wide range of services, including general veterinary care, surgery, diagnostics, and preventive care, in a supportive and professional environment.

The Role:

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will play a vital role in supporting the veterinary team in providing exceptional patient care. You will work in a well-equipped clinic, assisting in surgeries, conducting nurse consultations, and ensuring the overall well-being of the animals in your care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist veterinarians during consultations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures
  • Administer medication and treatments to patients as prescribed
  • Monitor in-patients and provide post-operative care
  • Perform nurse consultations, including nutritional advice, vaccinations, and preventive care
  • Maintain accurate patient records and assist with the day-to-day running of the clinic
  • Engage in CPD (Continuing Professional Development) to stay updated on best practices

Requirements:

  • Qualified and registered with the RCVS (Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons)
  • Previous experience working as a Veterinary Nurse in a small animal practice
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently
  • A commitment to providing compassionate and high-quality patient care

What’s On Offer:

  • Competitive salary ( £26000-£35000 )
  • Shifts between 8am–6pm or 8:30am–6:30pm, depending on department.
  • 1 in 15 weekends (Saturday & Sunday, 8am–8pm) at their 24/7 hospital — paid at time and a half.
  • Saturday mornings (1 in 3 or 1 in 4, depending on branch) — shifts either 8am–11am or 9am–1pm, also at time and a half.
  • Night shifts: RVNs work 1 in 17 weekend nights and 1 Monday night per year. A full week off follows a weekend night shift.
  • 40-hour contract with 35 clinical hours per week.
